Forum Quality...

Recommended Posts

:D

hmmm... I know this has been posted before but again I think I there was a need for this topic. The quality of this forum has gown down, way down. People here are free to insult/ ridicule Islam and the same people are doing it again and again. [Of course more are coming to join them as well.]

There are very few people on this forum who actually know what they are talking about [in regards to Islam] and hence you find that the majority of stuff being posted is either anti-Islamic [by those who come here to attack/insult Islam] or un-Islamic [by those people who don’t know much and write about Islam, or are from a deviant sect]. We have to keep in mind that whatever is posted is also read by people, who come here to learn Islam. When you read so much falsehood and too little truth, things start to go wrong. Like some people say, if you repeat a Lie long enough it would be thought as the truth, eventually!

The suggestion I am making is that, since many people come to this forum to learn about Islam, the administration should make sure that such people are not overwhelmed by un/anti Islamic information. The forum should purely be for Islamic purposes, avoid discussion politics as its going to involve pointless discussion/arguments and thus useless information would too be mixed with information that is worth reading. As far as I can remember this forum was created to give da’wah and explain the real Islam to people, and it did stick to objective for sometime, then it just got derailed.

I think the administration needs to make some changes, and get this forum back from a forum where either [mainly] Islam is bashed or discussed by people who have deviant believes [or no knowledge] or where politics and other irrelevant stuff is discussed to a place where basic Islamic believes and values are made clear to people daw’ah is given in the best possible way.

So please consider my suggestions, and remember it’s a forum with thousands of members and many non-Muslims visit this site, it’s a duty of the administration to make sure irrelevant information is not posted here, that may confuse the people. I think it’s a great responsibility that is on the shoulders of the people in charge here, Allah has given you a chance to make a difference, please use this opportunity well.

W’Allah’alam

While I hear what noxious is saying I think the political front does serve an important purpose. For a while there it did get filled with haters but that problem seems to have been solved for the time being. Besides, reasonable political dialogue can also be considered a form of Dawah. While I agree that the PF does need to be moderated actively, I think that is bring done now and I think all is (for the time being) well.

:D

p.s. Also, I think its important not only to maintain a dialogue between us and non-muslims but more importantly we must maintain a political dialogue amongst ourselves. There are divisions and differences in the Ummah and these need to be adressed and discussed. Also, you never know whether the seeds of a new Islamic era may well germinate right here on this forum. Besides I'll be very sad if the PF is closed down and you don't want to make me sad do you??? :D

Allah knows best. :D

I feel the mods and admin are doing a wonderful job mashallah!!!!! :D

About the quality of the forum,I feel its not gone down, :D

but see why you said that.

People that come to learn about Islam should come with an open mind therefore if they see something against Islam they should inshallah have the brains to know its not right.

To clarify

The content on this forum should be improved... Too much irrelevant stuff in it... So if someone comes it would be hard to differentiate what is the truth and what isn't. We have to assume that people who come here to learn about Islam don't really know much about it.. In the media there is too much anti-Islamic propoganda, so it is hard for people to have good views about Islam. So you have to make sure that the forum is in order for people who want to learn to actually learn and not get confused!

If the purpose of this forun is to chat then its ok, but if it is to do daw'ah then you need to rething the whole thing.

p.s. I hate to be the one saying this stuff but thought it was required.

Assalamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullahee wa Barakatu

Jazzakallah Khair!

Remember, that dawah does not mean that we have to convince the ignorant but to leave a message. If people are really searching for truth, they recognize it and they are able to find the wheat that is among the weed. Chaff and grain is mixed together, but the sincere searcher finds the grain, but throws the weed into the fire. If they are just trouble-makers they just follow their desires. They submit to their vain desires. If there are one or two who benefit from this forum, then all the effort is worth it. Coersion is not our goal but leaving the message that benefit those who really search.

We also need to remember that we should not expect that they have the manners like ourselves. We should try to be the best when it comes to manners. They, if they are sincere, may realize that they are the trouble-makers or they realize that they are the ones who do not have manners. If guest readers read the posts, and discover that the Muslims are friendly and patient in their answers, even if they have to explain the same thing a hundred times then they can see the difference. They see that Muslims are friendly, but the people other or no faith are those who are rude and start the rabble-rousing attacks.

Allah knows best what is hidden in the hearts and minds of every single creature and nothing is impossible for Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.

Remember, we receive reward even if they don't listen.

Remember, that we just worship Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala by spreading knowledge and by merely give out the message. We just do it for Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala not for everyone else. On the day of judgement, the feet will not move until four questions are asked:

1. Your life, what did you do with it?

2. Your wealth, how did you gain it and how did you spend it?

3. Your health, how did you take advantage of your health?

4. Your Knowledge, how did you use it and did you convey it?

We convey the message no matter how stubborn the listener or person might be. It is a competition about Akhira. We gain wealth akhira, and they lose it. If they listen and agree, may Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala give us a share of every good fruit our tree produces. For every good behaviour of a person who benefitted from this dawah, we receive reward until the Day of Judgment.

Let us plant the trees.

Salam

Brother noxiouspython, I noticed only one of the things you talked about. Its about when Muslims with lack of fiqh or knowledge post their own opinions on Islamic matters, and the discussions are made more confusing when non-Muslims chide in and give their own views.

The reader with no knowledge, or one who wants to find out more about Islam, is left dazed; he/she does not know what to believe about what Islam says about a certain subject.

:D I hope this can be worked out...

Brother noxiouspython, thank you for your concerns.

IF never claimed to be an authentic source of Islamic knowledge.

That said, any person with a sound mind doesn't go to forums as their main source of knowledge. Forums are for discussions. IF only tries to make a friendly environment both between Muslims and other Muslims, and between Muslims and non-Muslims. You members do make a great deal of contribution when you help others with suggestions, book titles, links to websites, etc. You can only show non-Muslims the way, and the sincere amongst them will know what to do next.

There are no scholars in this forum, thats why we always ask Muslim members to give authentic dalil from Quran and sunnah whenever they reply to questions or discuss an Islamic matter. And alhamdo l'Ellah most people can easily recognize those with reliable knowledge, and those using 'I think..' sort of answers.

As for non-Muslims, PF and other sections that are not directly related to Islam, if they serve nothing else, they at least serve as gathering spots, building more audience for our dawah. Its like making dawah in real life example: you can either stay inside the masjid and call people for Islam all day and night, or you can go where the crowd is and start your call from there. The more audience there is, the bigger rate of success insha'Allah.

And surely with the crowd, we must expect a percentage of bad people. But as the brothers said above, if only we succeeded to help one non-Muslim to see the truth and revert to Islam, then it was worth it to build this community. And alhamdo l'Ellah this happens frequently. All it takes is for us to be friendly, and meet insults with tolerance and forgiveness. Setting an example of good behaviour can make wonders. There are probably more reverts who were attracted to Islam by meeting good Muslims, than by reading books or lectures.

And remember: a thousand insults, when coming from non-Muslims, never hurts Islam, but one single insult coming from a Muslim does.
