What do you guys think of this idea? Can a single woman with no mahram make a hijrah which involves traveling, etc...?

i would also like to know this. i would have thought Allah would be understanding in the circumstances. especially as times have changed now and safety has increased for lone travelling women

Igot this ruling but I am doubtful without evidence[#4]:

As this topic is very important and many seem not to have full understanding of it or might have vague understanding of it, I decided to sum up the matter in simple terms and clear words so that everyone can benefit. The reason for this is beacuse in the other thread my words were scattered everywhere and might be misunderstood so it is best to keep it here and make it readable inshAllah.

Types of Travelling:

1) Travelling for the complusory Hajj

Ruling: This is allowed according to the Shafie, Maliki, Shaikh Al-Islam and others as long as the road is safe and it is with trust worthy companionship of women. This is for Fard while the voluntery Hajj and this is supported by the fact that the wives of the Prophet (Õáì Çááå Úáíå æÓáã) performed hajj alone in a group of women.

2) Travelling for the voluntary Hajj and good deeds

Ruling: This is amatter of dispute and the best not to do it without a mahram and the gate of good deeds are many ands he can sponsor another one who did not perform his Fard Hajj and that is the best and even better than her voluntary hajj.

3) Travelling for allowed matters (i.e. visiting and etc.)

This is allowed if the distance that is travelled is less than 82 Km. If traveling is further than this distance then there is two cases:

a. this distance is within the city as it is knonw in big cities:

The ruling here is permitted but as we say: travel then ask Allah's forgiveness

b. this distance means to leave out the boarders of the city:

This is allowed in certain cases when not travelling will cause a hardship and with the condition that she travles using publich transportations and no Taxis. Yetm we say to her again, travel but ask Allah's forgiveness inshallah.

4) Travelling out of necessity

Under this category falls every case that is exceptional such like:

revert sisters who have no Mahrams, Sisters whose her Mahrams are in other countries and have no one around, sisters who could not have her maharm with her but had to travel urgently for medication and etc.

In such case, she is permitted to travel alone but again we say to travel with the condition that she take safe tarsnportation and arrange her financial matters before travelling.

In the end, I would like to advise everyone the reasons why women were not allowed to travel alone without a Mahram:

1. To protect her during the way

2. To prevent those with sick hearts from attacking her while she is alone

3. To mainatin the man's honor and jealousy over his women

4. To get sisters used to remaining at home rather than having her leaving it often as it is today!!

wallahu A'lam

:sl: sister! That was a very kind and A welcoming response. I am skeptic about being allowed to travel without mahram. But I have no mahram. I could get married in four years when I am about to make a hijjrah but I have not been thinking about that and I am a completely busy person. And this issue is somewhat uncomfortable for me.

I wish someone could find out the following for me:

1. If I can live there without a mahram.

2. If I can live there without Arabic.

3. If I can travel without a mahram. Maybe there is an excetion when one has no mahram. I really need to make a hijjrah. I can't find a halal career!

Dear sister ,

You can live here in saudi arabia . The careers/jobs are halal .

You can wear cover as you want , you can work with no male _only girls_ & you will take a good salary

Even the houses here with no taxes.

The life here is so comfortable ..

You can pray as you want

The Masjids are so so so many , only in my street there are about 12 Masjids , which opened 24hrs for the prayers ,

I hope you will come here & i ll be so glad to recognize to you .

** i ll ask shikh Ahmad Al_Hufair _ an Islamic scholar_ about your traviling with no mahram , & i ll replay to you soon by god's will .

** the Arabic is not proplem , most of the people here can understand the easy english,, & i know so many girls get jobs here with no arabic , but they become advanced in the arabic about 4 or 3 months . Dont let the language stand in your way my dear .

may Allah let you go to heaven & keep you

May Allah, sunHanahu wa ta'ala, reward you greately. This place always helps! It's only from Alah actually , smiles.

That's why I want to move there. So I can wear face vail. So I can work for Muslims. Everything is almost halal. We do not have all those insurances, etc...And yes! No mixing of genders. That's so wise. Here, ther eis sexual harassment everywhere but to them that's normal.

You are so awesome sis! I know sister Proud Muslims will feel jealous..

Assalmau ALaykum Lastly, make a du'a so I go there.

Sister Orthodox  thats a really good intention you have and :sl: Allah SWT will accept it and your duas to live here in KSA.

There are ways for you to come here , but my suggestion would be to either first get married and come with your husband or brother , or marry a good brother who has the same school as you from KSA .

There are single women here who come without Mahram working , but i dont advise you to do the same.

Shukran

ok, but I think your teacher is over 45 years old, so they allow her to enter KSA, this is the case they allow women to go to hajj without mehrem, when they are 45+

Good luck with the hijrah.. though living in the middle east, I think we were more able to practice while living in Europe! Because it's the environment at home that plays a major influence. (Not to discount the importance of living in a muslim country, though)

Thank you sister prof so much. You do not know how much you helped! May Allah add it to your good deeds. I'll keep you all in my du'as and thanks brother al-faqeer.

I am too from Eurpe! I know what you mean by luck. I learned here that we do not believe in luck. We just believe in Allah's will. Smile. Well, I like people of Middle East more than I do my people for some reason. I am generalizing of course. Why? I think they love Islam more. I really do not mind if it is hard to live in KSA. I rather give my wealth to a Muslim country rather than work here for kaffirs. That's why they imported us. Eurpean countries. I hope Allah guides us.

Assalamu ALaykum

MashAllah, may Allah make it easy for you to move to a muslim country.

I've lived in two non muslim countries, and in two muslim ones.

As a parent, what I notice is that my children are most influenced by the home environment, and alhamdulillah this I have most control over.

I just wanted to point this out, though of course, I also prayed a lot to live in a muslim country when I wasn't here.. the journey continues even after landing in a muslim country.

May Allah keep us guided always, ameen.

Assalamu Alaykum wa rahamtu ALlahi wa barakatuh

What do you guys think of this idea? Can a single woman with no mahram make a hijrah which involves traveling, etc...?

wa alaykumus salam wa rahmatullah wa baraktuh

if it is for the purpose of Hijrah then yes it is permissable according to the scholars but only for hijrah the proof is

” O you who believe, when believing women come to you as emigrants examine them, “(Al-Mumtahanah:10)

also some of the sahabiyat made hijrah without a mahram

“However, if there exists from the women she who is rational, and resolute, and possesses insight and comprehension, and is able to travel and leave the land of disbelief to go to the land of Islaam, and she feels safe for herself from fitnah (tribulation), then this woman, it is obligatory upon her to leave and make hijrah when she is in the circumstance where it is obligatory upon her, and it is not a condition that she have a mahram (a guardian who, because of ties, she is never able to marry) because of the statement of Allah,تعالى :

( يا أيها الذين آمنوا إذا جاءكم المؤمنات مهاجرات فامتحنوهن )

” O you who believe, when believing women come to you as emigrants examine them, “(Al-Mumtahanah:10)

For verily Umm Kulthoom bint Uqbah ibn Abee Mu’ait left, and also Zainab the daughter of the Messenger of Allah,صلى الله عليه و على آله و سلم, left, they both left without a mahram, and likewise many women left from Makkah to Madeenah without mahrams, so the hadeeths which mention the condition of having a mahram for a woman to travel don’t apply in the particular case of hijrah.”
