What To Wear To The Masjid?

Recommended Posts

Salams!

Next week inshallah I will make the shahada in the masjid! Woohoos! I'm just trying to prepare for it so I know what to expect I never took the shahada in the masjid the first time. First thing thats weighing on me is what I should wear to the masjid. I know I should wear long clothes I've got that. But what shoes should I put on? I know u take them off before u go to the masjid...I mean before u go in but heres the thing. Most of my shoes are open at the top and I'm only supposed to show my hands and face. The only pair I have that are closed are all falling apart and awful looking I don't wanna go to the masjid like that. So I cant buy new ones yet I'm waiting for my next pay, which will hold off my shahada even longer. I've waited too too long! Next thing is are there any things the imam might ask me at the masjid that I need to prepare for or read up on? Any particular surah? Alsodo I have to hide my hair somehow? O! and 1 last thing! Where can I get the muslim clothes? Will they be at the masjid? Thanks and salams.

Assalamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullahee wa Barakatu

Don't you have socks? I hope shoes will be not the reason to delay you shahada. If you already said the shahada then you are already Muslim.

Salams sweety,

yeah you have to hide your hair for sure. Dont you cover your hair outside or when you are by mahram (foreign) males' side?

Assalamu Alaikum Arabia, there is no special clothing that yo have to wear when you go to the Masjid. What a Muslim person normally wears is good enough to wear to the masjid.

You have to be careful though that your clothes are not tight and revealing and See through. You could be wearing your regular pants (not tight ones or leotards) or long skirt that reaches a bit below the ankles and a loose long top which would atleast reach to the knees (which is preferable) and a scarf which will cover your hair and neck and hang in the front to cover the bosom.

As for the feet, as the brother mentioned above you can wear socks.

Assalamu Alaikum.
