Help A Brother In Needhttps://www.gawaher.com/topic/740883-help-a-brother-in-need/:sl:

Our member, brother abdullahfath, is facing tight financial problems. He contacted me to get permission to ask for your help. We usually don't allow forum members to raise funds or collect any money, but this brother is in real need of help. He is a revert as you probably know, and he hates to start fasting the month of ramadan with the burden of loans and pawns.

The brother will post the details, and I leave it up to you if you want to consider paying part of your zakah to help him out. The circumstances he's currently going through makes him one of those who deserves to be given zakah, for 2 reasons. As you know, there are eight categories on which zakaah must be spent, which Allaah has explained clearly. He states that this is a duty imposed by Allaah and that it is based on knowledge and wisdom.

“As-Sadaqaat (here it means Zakaah) are only for the Fuqaraa’ (poor), and Al‑Masaakeen (the poor) and those employed to collect (the funds); and to attract the hearts of those who have been inclined (towards Islam); and to free the captives; and for those in debt; and for Allaah’s Cause (i.e. for Mujaahidoon — those fighting in a holy battle), and for the wayfarer (a traveller who is cut off from everything); a duty imposed by Allaah. And Allaah is All-Knower, All-Wise”

[al-Tawbah 9:60]

The first reason you may give the brother zakah is under the fourth category:  “to attract the hearts of those who have been inclined (towards Islam)”. These are people who may be given zakaah in order to open their hearts towards Islam, either a kaafir who we hope will become Muslim, or a Muslim to whom we give in order to strengthen his faith.

The second reason for giving the brother your zakah is based on the sixth category: those who are in debt.

Jazakum Allahu khayran.

the remembrance of Allah, the angels surround them (with their wings),
(Allah's) mercy envelops them, Sakinah, or tranquillity descends upon them and
Allah makes a mention of them before those who are near Him.''

Naming Kittens!https://www.gawaher.com/topic/740730-naming-kittens/I think this is the proper place to post this...

The no-kill rescue I volunteer for got in a whole bunch of kittens in the last couple weeks. One was very near death, and my boss nursed him back to health and now he's quite the lively little thing! He gets into trouble trying to explore everywhere and everything, and also plays rough...with the adult cats! So we are looking to name him something that will fit (right now he's simply being called "Monster"! LOL). My boss would like a Russian name, but all I can think of is Ivan (yanno, after Ivan The Terrible... and Ivan also means "God is gracious", which I like). I also looked up names for gods or mythical beings of trickery and mischeif. Is there any suggestions from an Islam aspect?

Anyhoo, what originally brought me to this forum was researching Muezza. One of the kittens has deformed back legs, and may be crippled for the rest of his life. It will probably be impossible to adopt him out, so I am going to keep him. I had a cat who was born without her back legs, and knew she wouldn't be able to survive on her own (she was from a feral/wild mom). But last October she got sick so I had to euthanize her. Her name was Paizly, because of the swirl markings.

I have seen a couple references that Muezza means to cherish or care about someone. Is that about right? Also, how do you pronounce it in English? I am thinking it's something like "Moo-eh-zah"?

We're probably not going to name the other dozen kittens we have, as they will be easily adoptable and we won't have them long enough to really bother with thinking up all those names! We usually only name the "special" ones we get attached to and end up keeping.

How I Became Religious From Nowherehttps://www.gawaher.com/topic/740699-how-i-became-religious-from-nowhere/Assalamu alaikum,

I live in a country where Muslims are a minority. My family is not very orthodox. They never forced me to wear a hijab, offer five times prayers etc. Believe me, till March 2013 I used to be in western clothes but modest, I dint offer five times prayers, I prayed only magrib everyday, I dint read the Quran everyday it was only occasional and my hobbies were watching movies at home, though I dont go out with friends because I prefer being at home. In short I knew nothing about Islam.

One day I read about dawah and wanted to start with my Christian male friend but he got offended and he started talking worthy of Jesus. Though I was not much into my religion I always get angry when someone talks low about Islam. I started to argue, he argued back, as I knew nothing about Islam I started browsing more and more about Islam to defend myself. As I became stronger, he used to shout at me that Islam is fake etc, such arguments became frequent so I ended the debate without conclusion as to which religion is greater or worthy. I lost his friendship after that, he was my childhood friend and since then I dont like Christians, sorry if I am harsh.

I engrossed myself more in learning Islam, one day I saw a video of Dr Zakir Naik and since April 2013 I became very religious after understanding Islam, and I cry almost everyday to Allah in my prayers for missing out this beauty of Islam, for being so ignorant when I was young, but I also thank Him for giving me hidayath. my parents and brother are happy, friends are shocked at my change, my relatives are shocked. Parents said that Allah gives hidayath (a strong belief in religion) only to some, whom He wills.

I jumped in joy and I feel so happy that Allah chose me. I felt that connection, that special feeling when Allah chooses you. Imagine. I started wearing clothes like a Muslimah, offering five times prayers, reading Quran, and all that a Muslim has to do. Mashallah. Now I spend my free time completely in listening to religious lectures, dawah, spreading my knowledge to others, understanding more about Islam, trust me it has given me so much of peace and everyday I can't stop myself from learning more about Allah. I dont entertain arguments with anyone on Islam. I wish that Allah gives hidayath to all Muslims and help them enter Jannah. I love. Allah so much that I start to cry :-)

Time For Marriagehttps://www.gawaher.com/topic/739284-time-for-marriage/Time for Marrage?

Salam Alaykoum,

I dont view myself as a great writer. And honestly dont post or chat much. So I suppose i will start by briefly introducing myself. I am ****, a 30 year old single male (emphesis on single). I am a computer technician for a Cyber Cafe in **** Morocco, we have 10 computers and are in process of expanding to 16. I repair, maintain and format computers for a vast quantity of people. I would say I format about 10 to 15 computers a month and repair an equal amount. Do network installations and house calls for computer service and ADSL modem installations. And I provide other services... Is a good job and I am happy to be business partners with the people that I am with.

I speak, read and Write english.

I read French well.

I speak simple arabic, still learning.

But on the other side of this coin. I am 30 years old. And single. All my brothers and sisters have married and have there families and children.

For me being single has become a problem. I will do my best to say it in a mannor readable to all audiances (male and female) and if at all possible add some humor.

I am lonely. My heart yerns for a companion. For a wife to hold, to love and have close to me. To be intimate.... (Pause and Fastforward, skipping the sceenes that are for the husband and wife) ;-)

These feelings become overwhelming. It is not just in my head. It is my whole body, Mind, Heart, Soul. It is all of me. Not just parts of me! (wink, wink)

So why am I writing this. Simple answer. Hoping and praying and asking Allah for... Well. A Wife. Not someone elses wife. But my very own wife. A wife that is a good muslim. With a good heart and is loving and honest and caring and sometimes a little noty, well maby a little more than sometimes. A wife who loves me for who I am and loves me simply and honestly. In good times and bad.

And it is Ramadan. I pray the early morning and night Taraweeh prayers. I pray and ask Allah to help with all things. To bless my parents with good place in Jennah. Allah knows how much I love them and miss them. To forgive me and help me and save me. To bless Mohammed (PBUH) and all the messengers. To help all of us Muslims and save us. And for Allah to bless me with a good wife and children. And much more...

Free Comic Book From Middle East Artistshttps://www.gawaher.com/topic/737828-free-comic-book-from-middle-east-artists/All,

I don't know people's stances on either illustrated depictions in general or comic books/graphic novels specifically, but I thought it might be nice to share news about an anthology I co-edited which is coming out in a few months:

Originally, it was going to be printed as part of a Kickstarter(contact admin if its a beneficial link) campaign, but the Harvard office with which I was working saw that there was enough interest to sponsor it wholly themselves.

So, I present: Muqtatafaht, a collection of Middle East comics creators' works, now available to comic shops for ordering for Free Comic Book Day 2012. Edited by myself and the folks at Harvard University CMES Outreach Center.

you can't post links until you reach 50 posts_you are not allowed to post links yetfreecomicbookday(contact admin if its a beneficial link)/Home/1/1/2...temID=STK460619

I'd welcome your comments and thoughts! (Of course, though, I know "Middle Eastern" is NOT perfectly equivalent to "Muslim." Nevertheless, I still thought there could be some overlap/interest in this here at IF, potentially.)

Seeking Spousehttps://www.gawaher.com/topic/732431-seeking-spouse/Salam

My name is Marium. Though I am a born muslim, it has been about 10 years that I have started to truly seek for Truth. Al Hamdu lil Allah, so much.

I cannot tell enough How much I ought to be grateful to God for having guided me with the best of Guidance that one would ever dream of. And how much I am sad for having failed Him.

He said in Holy Quran , what do I have to do with punishing you if you believe and are grateful to Me. He is so Kind and knowing of our inner self, that if I am still alive it is only because He will guide me more by His Grace, otherwise there is no reason for me to be still alive , as I do not aim at living for myself.

Al Hamdu lil Allah, I wish that one day ALL people may see the world with One Pure Mind, Heart and Soul and see the reality of La ilaha illa Allah muhammad Rassoul Allah.

My heart is so happy and yet so much in need of peace. My aim in life is to seek God, find Him and go back to Him.ameen.

Also, I cannot enough thank Him, I know He is The Seer, Ar Raqib, The Keen Observer and I pray that one day I become a better muslima, as the prophet muhammad (saw) would have wished a muslima to be.

I would like to use this introduction to say that I am seeking for a revert brother (uk) for marriage purposes.

May God bless you all, ameen.

What To Wear To The Masjid?https://www.gawaher.com/topic/356505-what-to-wear-to-the-masjid/Salams!

Next week inshallah I will make the shahada in the masjid! Woohoos! I'm just trying to prepare for it so I know what to expect I never took the shahada in the masjid the first time. First thing thats weighing on me is what I should wear to the masjid. I know I should wear long clothes I've got that. But what shoes should I put on? I know u take them off before u go to the masjid...I mean before u go in but heres the thing. Most of my shoes are open at the top and I'm only supposed to show my hands and face. The only pair I have that are closed are all falling apart and awful looking I don't wanna go to the masjid like that. So I cant buy new ones yet I'm waiting for my next pay, which will hold off my shahada even longer. I've waited too too long! Next thing is are there any things the imam might ask me at the masjid that I need to prepare for or read up on? Any particular surah? Alsodo I have to hide my hair somehow? O! and 1 last thing! Where can I get the muslim clothes? Will they be at the masjid? Thanks and salams.

Want To Know Where I've Been?https://www.gawaher.com/topic/14881-want-to-know-where-ive-been/Assalamu alaykum

Alhamdulillah i finally got my wish. After a hard battle deciding where to go and what to do, i finally ended up in Yemen. I'm doing a 3 month arabic course and so far it is just great. There are a lot of Brits and Americans also studying in the Institute i'm studying in, Sana'a institute of Arabic Languages- "you can't post links until you reach 50 posts_www.sialyemen(contact admin if its a beneficial link)"]you can't post links until you reach 50 posts_www.sialyemen(contact admin if its a beneficial link)[/url]

Its fun too. The institute is actually like a border line between the Old ciyt of Sana'a for those who like a traditional, quiet and peaceful environment, and the new city of Sana'a where bustling like Cairo, with almost anything you want to find, accesceries, clothing (not the best in quality though), food (KFC, Pizza hut, Shawarmas, Italian, chinese, korean, pakistani(Chicken Biryani :D ), indian.....restaurants, gym, amusement parks (not as thrilling as the 7 flags or Alton Towers of course).

Its quite cheap too! For anyone who can afford it and wants to learn arabic, i say come to Sial. Some people have been to various places around the arab world such syria, palestine, egypt...learning arabic but while here at sial, they say its the best. The courses are flexible, it could be private one on one, choose your syllabus, bring your group over for large discounts. Female classes are seperate. Yemenis are so friendly and welcoming. They are very Islamically modest. most of the women were niqabs. Yemen is a good place to study arabic for muslims and non muslims as well. there are several non muslims and they are really having a good time.

Hope i get time to tell you more about yemen and the course.

ma'assalam

Hijrah To Saudia Arabiahttps://www.gawaher.com/topic/733929-hijrah-to-saudia-arabia/Assalamu Alaykum wa rahamtu ALlahi wa barakatuh

Hijrah Villagehttps://www.gawaher.com/topic/733714-hijrah-village/Assalam aleikum wa rahmatullah

My husband and I recently made a move that I had longed to make for years. A Hijrah, maybe not to Islamic lands but definitely to Muslim lands. Having lived in Europe I know that there are many Muslims who would like to leave but don’t know where to or how.

I realized I am in the fortunate position of being able to help those who want to make hijrah.

The proposal I have is not new as I am aware it has already been done in the Gambia, West Africa. The idea is the same, just a different location. To put it simply, Muslims pool resources together, buy land, build housing and relocate. Moving as a group with similar backgrounds and experiences will, Inshallah help the transition and ease the stress of living in a strange land among people, most of whom speak a different language and have a different culture. Making hijrah is not easy, it was difficult for the sahabah despite the fact that they were with Muhammad (salallahu alayhi wa salam) and among people of the same culture and language, yet for some of us it is obligatory for us to do it. cont.....

Loan From 2 Till 5 Yearshttps://www.gawaher.com/topic/732309-loan-from-2-till-5-years/Indeed, the Muslim cannot get the Creator’s grace and mercy until he asks for helps only Almighty and All-Merciful Allah – Giving food and Controlling everything, Merciful and Forgiving.

Therefore believing that the Masjid gives an opportunity to keep to the clear faith, and a good cause will be recorded to the Muslim built a Masjid. We built Masjids by our own means.

There were 230 Masjids in 1992, in the year of getting the independence in the Republic of Kazakhstan and in 2009 there were 2290.

Anyway it is not sufficient to worship our only Lord.

The global financial crises prevented to continue building.

Praise to Allah. Thanks to Allah’s help and forgiveness our affairs are getting better. And we should like to mortgage several Masjids, for this we are intended to attract free means of true Muslims.

We need loan means for the period of time from 2 till 5 years.

We hope that the Supreme Allah will respond to our request and our wishes will be fulfilled.

And we wish all the good and blessing for the people who will respond to our request.

Urgent Help Needed Debt Reliefhttps://www.gawaher.com/topic/731217-urgent-help-needed-debt-relief/Assalamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullahee wa Barakatu

Please, help this brother and his family to relieve him from his debt. Please, donate as much as you can to help them. Even one dollar is good. The donations should not be lower than 50 cents because PayPal deducts Transaction Fees.

Remember that debtors belong to the eight categories of people who are eligible to receive Zakah. If this is true the we should help them as much as we help the poor and needy. He asks for help; therefore, it is obligatory on us to help him relieving his family from the financial distress.

The credit debt became a heavy burden and if this debt is gone then there is no more debt.

I will use this as an initiative to help relieving the debtors be they dead or alive.

If you are unable to make donations, please at least make du'aa.

Use this opportunity to make sadaqa.
